Leigh Tango milonga

Leigh Tango exclusive! We are very pleased to announce that once again, we will be running four exclusive tango workshops over two days, hosted by the incredibly talented Alejandro Hermida! We have a fresh new schedule, as we know we often get a core group who come year after year, so we like to change things up. This year, we’re excited to showcase some new themes and styles as follows:

WORKSHOP PROGRAM:

Saturday:

11.30am to 1.00pm – tango using different dynamics

1.00pm to 2.00pm – lunch (please bring a packed lunch)

2.00pm to 3.30pm – milonga across different rhythms

8.00pm to 12.00am – our special event – Milonga Gala – the Royal Hotel, Southend, SS1 1JE

Sunday:

2.15pm to 3.45 – tango: playing with musicality

3.45pm to 4.00pm – break

4.00pm to 5.30pm – *new to Leigh Tango* – candombe, (the forerunner of milonga!)

*The candombe is a folk dance that originated in Uruguay, fusing multiple African dance traditions into a complex choreography. Movements are energetic and steps are improvised to suit.

Costs are £25 p/p for each workshop, so £100 p/p for the weekend. If you are attending all 4 workshops the milonga is discounted to £10 p/p. If you are not attending all the workshops, you can prepay for the milonga (£15) or pay cash on the door (£20). The milonga cost includes a fully licensed bar and bar snacks.

WHERE:

• The weekend of workshops will be held in our usual venue for classes, St Peter’s Church Hall, Eastbourne Grove, Westcliff-on-Sea SS0 0QF.

• The milonga will be held on Saturday 19th October, from 8pm to midnight, at the Royal Hotel, 1 High Street, Southend on Sea, Essex SS1 1JE.

After our Saturday workshops, you may want to find somewhere to eat before our evening Milonga event starts. We recommend:
