KENSINGTON GARDENS BANDSTAND

ONE-OFF – Only milonga in the Kensington Gardens Bandstand in 2026

NOTE that this will be held in the Kensington Gardens Bandstand and NOT in the Hyde Park Bandstand. (Avoiding competition for the space from the Salsa dancers)

Hyde Park Milonga is at Kensington Gardens on Saturday, 22 August 2026.

The bandstand has been beautifully refurbished. The floor is wooden so easier on the feet. The acoustics are superb.

Note that, unlike Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens closes soon after sunset, which will be at 20:11. The park gates close at 20:30 on 22 August 2026.

Music will be a smooth tsunami of traditional 30, 40s and 50s Golden Age and luscious Silk Age 50s, 60s and 70s with one or two 1930’s European tango tandas in the four hours.

The Kensington Gardens Bandstand is located in the southern part of the park, just below the Round Pond.

The closest public transport access is to the south via Queens Gate on the 9 and 52 buses from Hyde Park Corner for the Piccadilly Line. A 15-minute walk from Queensway station on the Central Line. And of course there are Lime and Santander bikes.

The nearest open toilets are close to the Serpentine Gallery near Mount Gate.
