INTERESTED IN JOINING US ON MONDAYS – COMMON Q&A

Q: Do I need to prove that I have been fully vaccinated at every event?

Answer:  From April 2022 we have relaxed this requirement.  We are now asking for dancers to be mindful to be responsible for their own personal health. Although we continue to do our best to deliver a healthy environment for dancing (ie keep within Hall Capacity, prioritise ventilation, cleaning, ask dancers to refrain from attending if unwell,  respecting dancers who wish to stay within their own dance bubble. etc).

Q: What else will be needed for registration?

Ans: We will need  full names, contact details, address postcode for all participants.  These will be used to keep you informed about our future events,  or for any urgent circumstances  eg if we need to cancel an event with short notice.

Q: Do I need to carry out a lateral flow test every week?

Ans:  We encourage all dancers to carry out a LFT, for your own health knowledge and as a responsible member of the tango community.  However, we no longer expect you to evidence a negative LFT to us.

Q: Is there any other time that I should not attend?

Ans: Yes, you should not attend if you are feeling unwell. Especially if you have developed any of the covid-19 symptoms.  (note: Please be mindful that there are lag in days between being  infected and testing positive on a LFT).  You will be credited to attend another event date of your choosing if you inform Twilight Milongas  prior the event you have booked/paid for.

Q:  Do I need to attend every week?

Ans: No.  You can only attend if you book & pay in advance, and your booking has been accepted.

Q: Do I need to wear a mask?

Ans: Mask wearing is optional.

Q: I have never danced Argentine Tango. Can I join?

Ans: You will need to join our “absolute beginners” /”recent beginners” Argentine Tango class on Mondays between 6.30pm to 7pm. You can book these classes via writing to gina@twilightmilongas.co.uk  This will give you the total basics, introduction to the world of Argentine Tango dancing. You can book as a couple, or as a single dancers  for these classes. Once you feel comfortable with the basics/music, you may book for the full Practilongas on Mondays. (Some people may feel ready after a few classes, others may take a few months).

Q: What other H&S procedures do I need to follow:

Ans: You will have your own unique  chair/table for each event. Individuals may choose to join other dancers if they have been invited to sit at their table.

Ans: All Participants may bring nibbles for their own consumption only. Free drinking water is provided. A full, very reasonably priced, licensed bar is available for you to purchase soft and alcoholic drinks.

Ans: General respect for each others’ personal space at all times.

Ans: There will be minimum additional decorations to allow access to all hard surfaces to be cleaned. Participants are welcomed to bring their own additional hand gels, cleansing wipes for their own comfort & confidence.

Ans: The Dance Hall will be well ventilated throughout each event. Therefore you will need to dress appropriately for hot or cold temperatures.  It is advised to wear layers to remove as you warm up

Ans: All Participants to keep all their own belongings within their own seated space.  Please keep items neatly tucked away from the dance floor to avoid creating trip hazards.

Ans: Refrain from any shouting or really loud. talking. There is an outside garden for any chats that you may want to have with fellow dancers for group or  longer conversation.

Ans: Regularly clean your hands. eg when you first come into the Hall. At your table. In the toilet facilities.  Between changing dance partners.

Ans: Avoid congregating in any space. eg wait outside the toilet if 2 people are using the facilities.

Ans: The dance etiquette on the Floor will be strictly

  • option to use the cabeceo/miranda for “asking a person if they would like to dance with you”
  • join the dance line at the point of your own table
  • use the lead cabeceo to ask permission to join the floor
  • no overtaking, undertaking, or dancing too close to tables
  • respect the line of dance
  • stay within your own line of dance
  • cortinas are used between “tandas” to indicate dancers to clear the floor
